Due to the size and nature of the firm, I am limited in the types of cases I can represent. Please see the home page and Client Services for Individuals & Families for a detailed description of the types of legal representation we offer if you have not already checked. While we will do our best to respond to every email, please follow these instructions to better guarantee a response:

• Please note I'm accepting new clients at this time on a limited basis, and only in uncontested matters. (Last updated: August 2026)

• If you are an attorney looking for assistance on a research or writing project, I am open to contract work. Please email me at the email we have previously used to communicate, an email you’ve received from a colleague who has previously worked with me, or contact me via rjb@rjberfangerlaw.com.

• If we have previously worked together in an attorney-client relationship, please email me at the email you have previously used to contact me, which remains active, or rjb@rjberfangerlaw.com. I may not be available to represent cases with pending court dates, but will do my best to respond in 1-2 business days.

• If you are seeking legal representation, and we do not have an existing attorney-client relationship:

  • I recommend reaching out to the local bar association of the county where you have an open case to ask if they have a referral program or directory for their members.

  • NOTE: Many Indiana attorneys will represent clients around the state, even if they are not located in a specific county.
